Description: I love dumplings and I've always wanted to try to make them. So one day I decided I'd give it a try. I bought the 4 ingredients that I knew definitely would work and took a shot. This was my first shot and I was really happy with it. All my friends really liked it... I hope they weren't just being nice. Ha ha.
1. Combine pork, soy sauce, ginger, scallions, and rice wine (optional) in a bowl and mix with your hands to fully incorporate. Cover and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
2. To make wontons, wet the edges of a wrapper and place about 2 tsps of the pork mixture in the center. Fold the wrapper diagonally to seal the opposite corners and seal the rest of the sides ensuring to force out air bubbles. Bring the two side ends together (so it looks like the arms of someone giving a hug).
3. Drop in boiling water and cook for 6-7 minutes. Remove and serve with the dipping sauce.
Yummy! These are one of my favorite things to order from a Chinese restaurant - I never expected to be able to make them at home. I must say I didn't do the best job packing them into the wonton wrapper but by the last few I got into a pretty good groove. They were fun to make and sooo darn tasty, especially the following day! I can't wait to make this again (hopefully soon!)
