Place the whole can of sweetened condensed milk into a pot. Cover with water so that the can is at least an inch under the water's surface. Bring to a slow rolling boil and keep it there for 3 hours. Add water when the level is getting close to the top of the can.
After 3 hours remove from heat and allow to fully cool before removing from the water. At least half an hour.
Open the can and enjoy!

This is good stuff. I hear that you can to a few cans at a time and just keep the other ones in the cupboard until the next time you want some. I still haven't finished the first one I made so I can't imagine needing more. But still it cool to know that I could do that if I wanted to.
