I think the only reason this place is in business is because there isn't a real alternative for 10 blocks in any direction so people almost have no choice but to go there if they need something in a hurry. It is REALLY EXPENSIVE that I try avoiding going there whenever I can. But, going back to my theory of not really having a choice, I go there when I need a quick fix and they usually have what I need.

This place is so cool. Middle Eastern breads, cheeses, hummus, huge bags of herbs and spices, and imported delicacies in cans. But beyond that, they even have musical instruments, cds, movies, and the best part - hookahs.

This place is amazing. A nice assortment of nuts and exotic spices, fresh fruits and veggies, sandwiches for take-out, books, movies, and cds, and the best thing of all - the hookahs. All crammed into this great little store. Sauson Inc. is definitely worth the trip.

Jars of tea leaves all around the store for you to have brewed right there in the store or to buy for home brewing. Tea Zone is such a great place; once inside the store you feel transported to a more serene place (all the better for the overall experience). However, as great as all that is, the best part of the whole experience was the amazing customer service. The owner went above and beyond to make sure that we had the best experience we could have there. He has won my loyalty. I'm definitely going back there.

Sometimes you go to an Asian grocery store and you find that you can only find ingredients for Japanese, or Chinese, or Thai cuisines but you don't get them all in the same place. That is not the case at Super 88. You can find any Asian ingredient you want for a one-stop Asian shopping bonanza. They even have some of the rarer (and honestly pretty gross-looking) ingredients like thousand-year-old-egg... Check this place out. It's an experience.

In a wierd way, going into this store feels like entering through a portal into the fall in Upstate New York. The homey, log-cabin feel just rounds out the overall experience and enhances the appreciation of the herbs, spices, and extracts - all of which are in display jars that you can open to let the aromas surround you. Penzey's is a great place to 'buy' your spices even if you don't buy anything at all.

They sure do pack in a ton into this tiny little grocery store. I've just recently started exploring Indian cuisine so I can't say that they have everything you would need, but it is possible. Everything I've needed has been there and I know I haven't even explored it all... I still think my favorite part are the sacks of rice in the front of the store - looks very old world. I think all of their meats are downstairs so I'll have to check that out next time.

OH YEAH, GIGGITY GIGGITY! This place rocks! I spent the first 20 minutes just walking around checking out all of the amazing (and strange) things they had and then spent the next 15 trying to pick out everything I had never had before... Hawaiian plantains, purple cauliflower, all sorts of squash, beans, and peppers... two full baskets later it was time to check out - and what a surprise! Everything was way less expensive than I thought it would be. EVERYBODY should go there. Great produce, great prices, and for the socially responsible, you can feel good about supporting locally grown produce. The 'Green Movement' is in effect, Support A Russo & Sons.

It's a pretty safe bet that you'll find what you need here and for that, this place is great. The biggest drawback is that South Square Market is a bit on the pricey side... I guess you can't always have it all...

This place is incredible! It's great just to walk around for ages and look at all the amazing things they have. If you're looking for gourmet ingredients, this is the place to find them.
